"Until mountain biking came along, the bike scene was ruled by a small elite cadre of people who seemed allergic to enthusiasm." -Jacquie Phelan

Jacquie Phelan is a pioneer in her involvment with mountain bike racing.

Born is San Francisco in 1955, Jacquie grew up to become a three-time consecutive winner (1983, 1984, and 1985) of NORBA, the National Off Road Bicycling Association.

Noticing that there was not a fair correlation between the men to women ratio in the mountain biking sport, Jacquie founded the Women's Mountain Bike & Tea Society.  WOMBATS is a program sponsored by women and for women (men are invited too!) to not only introduce women to the sport of mountain biking but to also establish stronger cohesion between all cyclists in the mountain bikng industry.
